Butchered at BirthButchered at Birth is the second studio album by American death metal band Cannibal Corpse. It was released in 1991 through Metal Blade Records.

The album was banned in Germany, due to the violent artwork. The first pressings of the compact disc were wrapped in white butcher paper stamped with the band logo and album title in red ink. Butchered at Birth’s cover also drew a complaint from the Ontario Provincial Police in Canada, which led to record stores being told not to sell the album to persons under 18.[citation needed]

“Rancid Amputation” was given a lounge music re-arrangement by Andrew Hansen of the Australian comedy team The Chaser in July 2006, when the band came under controversy due to their lyrical content prior to touring in Australia.

The Analysis:

Meathook Sodomy—-One only has to listen to the early days of this band to realize how incredibly much they have progressed in their sound. Yes, perhaps the sound content is very much the same, but the sound and talent of the band has progressed so much. This opening track is nothing less than pure noise for the most part….until the drums kick in and then we get lively. there is little harmony here….but the chord changes are fantastic. The vocal is just deep and intense…production has gotten so much better. This is a huge blast from the past!!!!

Gutted—-Wow…the sound of this release is so tinny and lacks that huge sound the band now has…none the less, it is as brutal as anything you can buy today. The vocal is incredible and the chord changes make this so recognizable. I like the slower and drudge filled delivery…makes the music even darker. drums are awesome…as always!!!

Living Dissection—-Choppier but still classic, the drums are huge on this track. this is phenomenal…and i’m sure when this was released it shocked the hell out of a lot of Metal fans…this is an archaic yet wonderful version of CC…this is history……so glad I finally got my hands on this shit!!!!

Under The Rotted Flesh—-Leaving you little time to catch your breath, this track actually seems to have a bit of a better sound quality. I miss the guitar squeals that have become so much a part of this band,,,,but the relentless pounding on the skins makes this even better. The vocal is intense as fuck…and the shift changes from the leads makes this a favorite of mine!!!

Covered With Sores—-Perhaps the fan favorite from this release, the delivery is much more accessible to the average everyday metal fan. The vocal is still intense as fuck, but the instrumentation is almost classic Heavy Metal. When the drums really let loose….you are in for a treat……brilliant!!!! Did I just say that…..yeah…I did!!!!

Vomit The Soul—-What a great rhythm section intro with this track…see…there is melody and groove on this shit!!!! This goes back and forth…brutal and catchy as hell…how can you deny the brilliance of this band. This is my favorite track from this release…i love the intermittent double vocal…it makes the song huge…and is just a slight hint of the things that are to cum!!!!!

Butchered At Birth—-As this release continues, I either get used to the sound quality or it seems to almost clear up as it goes on. This is FAST….delivered with venom and produces smiles from me. I love this band…and to think there was a time when I could not stomach this music!!!! Not sure what twisted me….anger maybe?

Rancid Amputation—-Much as you would expect, there are few surprises on this track….the outstanding features are incredible fucking drums and a vocal from hell….the melody of this song….ALMOST sticks in your head…..funny how all my muscles tense when I listen to this shit!!!!

Innards Decay—-Rounding out the release…sounding little different then when it all began, this has a slight guitar squeal to it….I dont think they learned how to do it yet…lol! this is brutal…bloddy and perverted…just as the Dr. ordered!

Bonus Track:

Covered With Sores [ Live  featuring George ‘Corpsegrinder’ Fischer]—-This allows you to realize how much the band has progressed and how important George is to that progression. The vocal is even more intense and the quality of this live performance is incredible. The melody is there and the energy is infectious…this is a brilliant visitation. This is fantastic!!!!

Cannibal Corpse / Bloodthirst

Posted in CD of the day, music, random, reviews with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on 270000007-04:00 12 by marky7235

BloodthirstBloodthirst is the seventh studio album by American death metal band Cannibal Corpse, and the third to feature George ‘Corpsegrinder’ Fisher as vocalist. It was released in 1999 through Metal Blade Records.

The Analysis:

Pounded Into Dust—-Leaving little time to prepare yourself for the onslaught, this track really does live up to its name……from the onset, the classic beatdown is all over the track. George enters and the song takes on an almost demented delivery. This has nice breaks, a fantastic melody,,,,and some screams that are amazing. still a favorite track of mine!!!!

Dead Human Collection—-Relentless drums and a nice guitar squeal introduce the song….George is not far behind. There are huge, nice movements in this track….sklow….fast…slow fast……allowing for an actual melody to form despite the mayhem. this is wonderful…..brilliant and demonic…bloody and beautiful!!!!

Unleashing The Bloodthirsty—-Beginning with a bit more of a dirge, this track in particular, paints a picture of some of the brilliance that is to come with later releases. The slower and bass heavy melody allows even more gore vocals and screams…this was a great recipe to take the band to a higher level….this is a VERY favorite track of mine!!!!

The Spine Splitter—-With 3 seconds to catch your breath, you are smacked once again with the traditional ramblings of CC…this is fantastic. The intermittent growl….mixed wioth the scream makes this monumental. The squealing guitar is nice…but the bass heavy delivery makes it perfect!

Ecstasy In Decay—-Wow…this has a melody right from the opening notes of the song!!!! This is primo stuff……listening to this with headphones, you realize how great the production really is…as the sound travels from ear to ear. George has never sounded better and the bass section of this band is so damn important…this is a classic and fantastic track!!!!

Raped By The Beast—-Nice guitar breaks and squeals right at the start, the vocal is a bit to guttural, but the music rises above it. the instrumentation takes you on a journey all by itself. the drums are incredible and the rhythm section adds layers and layers to the song. the leads come at you almost in waves….just fantastic!!!!

Coffin Feeder—-Wow…what a great bass line……..people think that making this type of music is so easy…this stuff has structure and organization….the more you listen to it, the more you appreciate it. This is not thrash mayhem…this is organized melody placed with insanity?!!!!!

Hacksaw Decapitation—-This is different…..the track comes from the fog and builds and builds until it explodes your eardrums……the onslaught is there….but they actually makes you wait for it……this is worth the wait once the hell breaks loose…this is brilliant….layered, fast and exquisite….the guitarts squeal and make me hard….the vocal hits your gut….and the graveyard comes through your headphones……

Blowtorch Slaughter—-Leaving you little time to catch your breath, this track kicks in again with a vengeance. There are overlayed vocals on this track that makes it really unigue….sometimes giving the song a machine feel. This is full of sustained bass…..huge freakin drums and a bit of vocal manipulation that makes it a favorite!!!!

Sickening—-Returning to full on brutal assault, the band sound in this early release much as it sounds today….afterall, consistency is the key!!!!!

Condemned To Agony—-Ending this release in classic brutal form, the music starts right at the onset in a huge barrage followed by George delivering line after line of perverted fantasy….the guitar breaks and the superhuman drums,………that is what keeps me coming back…the words are fantasy…the music is real as hell!!!!

Cannibal Corpse / Eaten Back To Life

Posted in CD of the day, music, random, reviews with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on 60000007-04:00 12 by marky7235

Eaten Back to Life

Eaten Back to Life is the debut album by American death metal band Cannibal Corpse.[1] It was released on 17 August 1990 through Metal Blade Records. The album was banned in Germany (censored versions were not available,[2] but the ban was revoked in June 2006) and other countries because of the violent cover and the extreme nature of the lyrics.[citation needed] Glen Benton of Deicide and Francis H. Howard of Opprobrium (then known as Incubus) perform back-up vocals on “Mangled” and “A Skull Full of Maggots”.

The following statement can be found in the inlay of this album: “This album is dedicated to the memory of Alfred Packer, the first American cannibal (R.I.P.)”

This album has stronger influences of thrash metal than their future releases, as well as a slightly varied vocal style. Their trademark style wasn’t present until their following release Butchered at Birth.

The Analysis:

Shredded Humans—-right out of the gate, there is a classic sound to this release that allows the die-hard fan to know whom they are listening to. The vocal is not quite as deep and the guitar squeals are not as present………in fact…you can actually catch a word or two on this debut release. There are nice bass related downshifts……the band is discovering it’s way…this is fantastic…the very beginning!!!!!

Edible Autopsy—-With a much more thrash oriented feel, this almost makes me think of classic Testament…although it is a bit more chaotic. The vocal is so much more accessible on this debut release….and the future is clearly laid out in the sound of this release….it really gives you a feel as to where the band is going. the production is full of tin…..but they all start there right? The intent is so very clear though….the promise of the future is in cement with this release…this is a collectors dream!!!!!!

Put To Death—-Coming out of a split second of silence and building and building in intensity, this is a remarkable track. This is almost classic CC…the vocals are raw and rampaging………the energy is extraordinary…the only difference is the literal so-so version of the music that is presented……but it evolves!!!!!!

Mangled—-The song title matches the intensity of the song perfectly……this is relentless and is the future sound of the band. It is almost impossible to catch even a single word of the song…it comes at you like an Afghan bullet brigade….but the intent and feeling is clear…this is was new and shocking….this was the future for every band that came after in the Florida scene…….and there is none other more known than CC!!!!!

Scattered Remains—-Much more drudge driven at the onset, the drums are incredible on this track…in fact the entire rhythm section is awesome…..the vocal enters and transforms the entire track into mayhem….but the music never looses the focus…this is so much more thrash driven than later releases…….incredible history right here!!!!

Born In A Casket—-Full of mangled guitars and an intense thrash delivery, this track is one of my favorite on this release……there are huge chord changes and musical shifts that really got me…I listen to this over and over. The vocal is as expected……but it is the music that is so powerful on this song….the shift changes only gives us a glimpse of the future,….this is incredible!!!!

Rotting Head—-From the onset, this is much more Metal than Death…….until the vocal….the voice is huge on this track……there is barely a word you can catch….but the intensity is evident. I love the downshift in the music and the super talent it takes to speed up…slow down…almost stop and allow for the bass,……this is incredible……..from the onset, this band was a legend!!!!

The Undead Will Feast—-Nothing remarkable…….deveastating and unrelenting…..as you would expect….the vocal is almost barking punk rock…..would love to hear the band do this circa 2012!!!!!!

Bloody Chunks—-The growl at the onset of this song sets the entire freakin tone….this is so fast and convoluted…you never catch a drift od lyrics…all you get is energy……..wanting to throw yourself in the pit and celebrate the embrace of pure Grind…..

Skull Full Of Maggots—-At the onset, this almost feels like ther are two sets of drums playing at the same time……the trademark guitar squeals make their entrance here…..and the double vocal is incredible….thanks Mr. Benton…no one does is better…..there are incredible down shifts in the song that are key to the delivery……still one of my faves on this release.

Buried In The Backyard—-An EXTRAORDINARY Instrumental!!!!

Born In A Casket—-And indeed, George revisits this classic in a live setting….adding a brutality and range you never thought possible…….the live insertion of this is just brilliant. This man knows this catalog…..and the drums on this track…live……are incredible!!!!!

Cannibal Corpse / Gore Obsessed

Posted in CD of the day, music, random, reviews with tags , , , , , , , , , , on 40000007-04:00 12 by marky7235

Gore ObsessedGore Obsessed is the eighth studio album by American death metal band Cannibal Corpse released in 2002 through Metal Blade Records.

The Analysis:

Savage Butchery—-In the last ten years of releases, this is still one of the most brutal and unrelenting from this band. George is masterful…..he was born to be the vocalist for this band. His growls are monumental….and his ability to rise to a scream is phenomenal……..a classic track!!!!

Hatchet To The Head—-With little time to catch your breath, we enter right into the next track……Greorge sounds even more drive…..delivering line after line that match the dual guitar sound so incredibly well…..timing is everything with this band…….and yes, they have this down to a science!!!!

Pit Of Zombies—-Relentless and driving from the first notes, the bass lines on this track are amazing…there is a groove and a melody that you can not ignore even if you want to. George is stellar…rising from the gut to the sky……pretty amazing…..

Dormant Bodies Bursting—-Brutal from the very first note, this track never lets up or allows you a moment to catch your breath…there are some great, great chord changes during this song that make it even larger….but it is the VOICE….that drives the delivery!!!!

Compelled To Lacerate—-This track is a surprise to me…the kyrics are almost crystal clear….and there is a remarkable melody that runs through thew underbelly of the song….this is almost a real song….the drums are incredible….and the voice…as always…….fasntastic!!!!

Drowning In Viscera—-This is classic CC……the deep bass is all over….the maiona from the drummer is well in tact and the guitar squeals are everywhere. Who could ask for more…….well….I could….but……

Hung & Bled—-Beginning with a bit more sludge and sabbath style slow playing, this track takes quite sometime to get off the ground….eventually the drums dio into overdrive and introduce the manic vocal…..one of my favorite tracks from this release!

Sanded Faceless—-Coming seamlessly from the previous track, this is a death fest if there ever was one!!!!! The power of the music is just incredible….the song builds and builds and then just smashes your forehead like a  brick…..another favorite track of mine….because it carries lots in instrumental power!!!!

Mutation—-Filled with an intense power and speed, again…the drums stand out so strong….they seem to match the vocal intensity beat for beat. The leads are nice, because you get some slight squeals……but to me the changing tempo is the thing that makes the song a standout…..

Death Replaces Life—-Again, much darker……slower and drudge driven, you actually catch vocal literation from line to line…..amazing. This track is so much more understandable and seems to have an actual message…….one of my favorite tracks on this release…incredible~~~~

Grotesque—-Ending the release with the intensity that we have all come to expect, this is a fine round out to a mix of tracks that really showed where the band was going with future releases…..that is why this release is importand….can you say foreshadowing?

Cannibal Corpse / Tomb Of The Mutilated

Posted in CD of the day, music, random, reviews with tags , , , , , , , , , , on 190000006-04:00 12 by marky7235

Tomb of the Mutilated

Tomb of the Mutilated is the third studio album by American death metal band Cannibal Corpse. It was released in 1992 through Metal Blade Records and is the last album featuring founding guitarist Bob Rusay. The album was banned in Germany, due to the violent cover and the extreme nature of the lyrics.

Because the liner notes on Butchered at Birth feature quotations from American serial killer Albert Fish, he is often incorrectly credited with being the voice at the beginning of “Addicted to Vaginal Skin”. However, the taped confession heard at the beginning of the song most likely belongs to the “Genesee River Killer” Arthur Shawcross.[1]

The song “Hammer Smashed Face” was featured during the band’s cameo appearance in the film Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, and downloadable content for the Rock Band video game series. The song “I Cum Blood” is also featured in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned.

The Analysis:

Hammer Smashed Face—-This ‘ground-breaking’ and critically acclaimed release begins much in the vein as you would expect. Barnes and Fischer share the same vocal grind so it is hard to really know that george is not the vocalist on this release. The deep bass is all over this release and the trademark guitar squeals almost give me an erection. This is brutal, gory and fun at the same time…this is a classic release….grind on fucker!!!!!

I Cum Blood—-On headphones, this track becomes even more brutal than before. The speed and intensity of the playing needs to be recognized as much as the brutal vocal. This is classic stuff right here….Barnes is less understandable than george has been….but the ability to growl is incredible!!!! This is grind at its very best…you cannot deny the humor and brilliance of it all…it does take immense talent to make music this brutal. I but into the whole idea that this is a hidden concept record…this takes you from murder to orgasm in 9 songs…brilliant!!!!

Addicted To Vaginal Skin—-What an amazing vocal intro……setting up the intensity of the song and the record even more. The drums on this track are intense as all get out…..there is a deep muted energy that the new version of the band has seemed to have abandoned. The sound…makes everything even more serious and sinister. The bass riffs are spontaneous and incredible…the drums beat your forehead and the lead squeal….are the highlight of my life!!!!

Split Wide Open—-Continuing the mayhem, sometimes all of the music coming together in intermediate tracks like this is a huge cerebrum traffic jam……fuckin’ awesome……the downtempoi shifts get me every single time!!!!

Necropedephile—-When that opening growl enters the song, I just sit back for a moment and enjoy the whole moment. Am I wrong to say I prefer George though? I like Barnes…but his gut is so deep you hardly ever catch a phrase or no when a sentence ends. the band is so tight on this release…playing like it has forever….the shift and tempo changes are incredible…..I love this band!!!!

Cryptic Stench—-The playground noises at the intro of the song….kind of take you aback…lol. The intensity follows quickly after and puts you right smack dab in the middle of death and gore once again. This is intense….I love the shifting bass…it takes talent to play that fast and with accuracy. The vocal is as you would expect…but it seems to be pushed aside a bit on this track…allowing the band a full on death rattle made my instruments alone….phenom!!!!!

Entrails—- This entire track defines brutal…..there is never a moment to catch your breath as the band rips through one disgusting verse after the other…….just incredibly intense and affecting…there are some nice bass downshifts…but for the most part…this is a full on brutal assault!!!!

Post Mortal Ejaculation—-This track begins a bit different…offering up a much more mainstream guitar sound until the vocal enters and mayhem ensues. the squeals are intermittent, but there is a guitar melody that runs underneath the entire song that I absolutely demand…therefore it is a success for me……I love this!

Beyond The Cemetery—-Rounding out this proper release much the way it began, it is amazing that the intensity never ebbs for a moment from this band…you wonder what everyday life is like for such individuals!!!! This again…has huge bass downshifts and tempo changes that really first attracted me to this band…and so it goes….just anotherr magnificent step in history…..and still going!!!!

I Cum Blood [ Live ]—-CC live can be a trying experience….but this track…with george at the vocal is a bit better…but the track is highly distorted and not really enjoyable….was this necessary????

Cannibal Corpse / Live Cannibalism

Posted in CD of the day, music, random, reviews with tags , , , , , , , , , , on 150000006-04:00 12 by marky7235

Live CannibalismLive Cannibalism is a live album by American death metal band Cannibal Corpse, released in 2000 through Metal Blade Records. It was also released as a DVD.Most of the album was recorded live at The Rave in Milwaukee, WI on February 16, 2000. Tracks 3, 5, 6, 12 & 15 were recorded the day prior (February 15, 2000) at The Emerson Theater in Indianapolis.

The Analysis:

Staring Through The Eyes Of The Dead—-The intro to a live release is always the best…you can feel the energy surge through the crowd…this is no exception. as the show gets underway, i am rather surprised with the slow progression of the track…..but once the stellar vocal arrives…I am at home and comfortable. I would imagine it is very difficult to capture a band like this live…..it is as good as the recorded version…even if the music is a bit muted at times!

Blowtorch Slaughter—-With less than a second of respite, the band finally launches into full-blown mayhem. The music is much more upfront on this track…as well as allowing room for the vocal…this is brutal…played with precision and amazing in energy!

Stripped, Raped And Strangled—-The energy on this track is amazing…the lyrics and ideas almost comical…but that is CC…a more brutal Gwar for the under covers!!!! There is no break between songs…almost hard to even know this is a live release…the production is stellar. The deep bass of the song really sounds studio worthy….and George just rips his guts out singing this shit….amazing!

I Cum Blood—-a perennial live favorite, it is hard to imagine the band could ever leave this out of the live show…EVER!!!! This is one track you hear clear crowd support…incredibly delivered and sounding almost like a master recording….I’m still impresses with the quality of this recording….always a favorite of mine!!!!

Covered With Sores—-As George eggs on the crowd, the band launches into a lesser known track that is deeper in sound and filled with a nice bass driven dirge. The track….I’m sure is designed to give the band a chance to catch up from the opening mayhem…even george sings a bit more relaxed until mid track where hell is right back in place….incredible!!!!

Fucked With A Knife—-Obviously a huge crowd favorite, you can hear the commotion occurring in the background. This track is ultra fast and ultra violent….you have to love the energy…the aggression and the way the crowd reacts to a favorite demented track!

Unleashing The Bloodthirsty—-George delivers line after line that is full of incredible energy…..damn…doesn’t this guy ever get worn out? This is amazing….full on thrash/deathcore that is unrelenting. the deep sound the band produces is amazing…I love this song……not really a well-known track…but really growing on me…..

Dead Human Collection——This is so amazingly fast and full od those guitar squeals I love so much from this band….I get so excited listening to this release…the qualioty is almost like you are right there in the arena…..this is an amazing release to me…the production is TOP-NOTCH…..you can even catch more words live than on the recorded versions…..

Gallery Of Suicide—-One of the bands best known ‘singles’, this is much more dirge driven and a personal favorite. I love the deep feel of the song…this IS deathcore!!!!! The live version is done as well as any recorded version you can find…and leaves me pissed as hell I did not catch this tour….George is incredible…and the drums and bass are massive!!!! Did I mention there is some great melody on this track?

Meat Hook Sodomy—-Another classic track that is filled with Mayhem and Aggression…the guitar breaks on this track are just incredible. George delivers a classic live vocal that is almost better than the studio version. This is pretty incredible…the puke and putrid feel of the song transports to live performance without even trying!!!!

Perverse Suffering—-From one of my favorite releases from this band, this track is sheer brutality!!!!! There is no room to catch your breath…you can tell the band has had time to warm up as the pace is electric and the delivery is maddening. This is an incredible live version of one of my favorites….Death/Thrash very best!!!!

The Spline Splitter—-This has a different feel and t=you can tell it was recorded elsewhere…the sound is much more muted and disconnected…this is a favorite track of mine…but this live version falls a bit flat…the only saving grace is the lightening speed which it is played!

Gutted—-I love this track because of the great rhythm section at the onset…the song quickly dissolves into mayhem…but the melodic content always plays in the backdrop. the vocal is as you have come to expect…but the instrumentation….is brilliant…magnificent~!!!!!

I Will Kill You—-Again, this has a different tone…but the energy is incredible. George can sing from his guy like no other Death Metal singer ever…..this is brilliant…one of my favorite tracks on this live release….just for the intensity and vocal style!!!!

Devoured By Vermin—-Another of those classic CC releases, this transposes live as well as it does on the recorded version. The vocal is remarkable……full of speed….distasyte and putrid hate…..Damn…I love this band..is that healthy?

Disposal Of The Body—-Aggressive….brutal and so fast you can not catch your breath…..can there be anymore comments made?????

A Skull Full Of Maggots—-Rounding out this epic show with two classics, this is a song that the band has played for years without falter. The sound on this mix is a bit full of tin…but the vocal is great…even though even it seems removed. This is nice but leaves me wanting the recorded version…..

Hammer Smashed Face—–Of course, saving one of the best for last, it is too bad the production was not as well executed as on the previous tracks…this is a fantastic track…and the guitar squeals just make me smile for days….I love this brutal shit…….Damn!!!!

Fear Factory / The Industrialist

Posted in CD of the day, music, random, reviews with tags , , , , , , , , , , on 140000006-04:00 12 by marky7235

The IndustrialistThe Industrialist is the eighth studio album by industrial metal band Fear Factory.

The Industrialist marks the band’s return to the concept album.[4] Burton C. Bell said about the album, “the protagonist (The Industrialist) is the incarnation of all industries in the form of an automaton. The mechanical, technological, and scientific advances through the industrial age led to the creation of The Industrialist. In the story, the automaton becomes sentient as it collects memories with each passing day. Through observation and learning, it gains the will to exist. What was meant to help man, will eventually be man’s demise.”[5] According to Cazares, the title was taken from a documentary the band saw about the people who developed “the engines for war machines”, and God Eater was a name Bell saw on a toybox while traveling.[6]

The album was recorded with Bell and Cazares as the only two credited members of the band, while Rhys Fulber once again produced and received additional writing credits. No live drummer was used on the album, with the band instead opting for programmed drums with help from John Sankey of Devolved, who was also credited.

The Analysis:

The Industrialist—-I’ve so been looking forward to this release, so my expectations were really high when I finally got this…..from the opening strains, I will not be disappointed. The opening opus begins rather slow but takes on the familiar FF sound after just a few bars….this opening track is almost epic…making me hard with excitement! The familiar vocal enters and the further tales of demise ensue…sit back and enjoy……the fun is about to begin!

Recharger—-Returning to full on aggression at the onset of the song, it is hard to believe there is not a human drummer on this release!!!! The vocal is so familiar, it feels like I’m home after being gone for a long time. this is fantastic. The squeals from the guitars are incredible and when that clean vocal enters…I’m just amazed….it makes me feel warm and fuzzy!!!! Imagine that!!!! This is an incredible track….a favorite for sure!

New Messiah—-This track, upon the intro, seems to actually come out at you from a distance….and just builds in aggression from there. This is remarkable…the lead guitars just soar. The vocal is like being transported back 8 years or so…to the glory days. The clean vocal enters and the song takes on a magical melody that will have you playing this in your brain for days and days. This is just classic!!!!

God Eater—-Beginning at the onset like a Linkin Park track, this quickly comes alive and reminds you what you are listening to. This is Industrialized Metal at its finest. The song is slow to begin…but comes alive with an intensity that is worth the wait. This is incredibly intense. I love the deep feeling of the song…and the slight manipulations you hear in the backdrop of the song. This is different…but fits in with everything in a masterful way……I love this band!!!!

Depraved Mind Murder—-This is classic FF from the very first notes and just progresses as the song does. I freakin love this….the drums are incredible for being machine made…the vocal is like it has always been…sounding the same as the very first release….the clean vocal sounds even better than ever….providing the much-needed melody to this song…this band would not be the same without it….incredible….!!!!

Virus Of Faith—-With super human drumming, that is not even human, the song begins with a huge BANG!!!! The interplay between aggressive and clean vocals make this track a favorite of mine…you travel between mayhem and calm so quickly…I feel schizophrenic…and in headphones…the track moves from ear to ear magically….this is just fantastic!

Difference Engine—- Drum driven and really aggressive from the very first note, this is another really favorite track of mine on this release….this is incredible…there is so much energy and vehemence. I love the slow ebb of the song and the sudden bursts that follow…this is incredible. I really can never find fault with this band!

Disassemble: Religion Is Flawed Because Man Is Flawed—-There are some really great guitar squeals throughout this song that really get me going…I love that shit. This is aggressive and full of religious venom…..I cant deny the disbelief…but i still love the band as an entity. this is remarkable…even the rough vocals are almost clean….this is fantastic…another very favorite track!!!

Human Augmentation—-This huge….epic last track on this stellar release…will leave you thirsty for more…begging for another quick release and listening to this one over and over for the next 6 months. this is extraordinary…full of effects, Indutrial style noises and an almost soundtrack style to the delivery. This is masterful….and that is before any singing even begins! Which it never does!!!! This ambient style closure is an excercise in patience…but a display of talent!!!!

Cattle Decapitation / Monolith Of Inhumanity

Posted in CD of the day, music, random, reviews with tags , , , , , , , , , , on 140000006-04:00 12 by marky7235

Monolith of Inhumanity

Originally founded in 1996, Cattle Decapitation’s songs protest the mistreatment and consumption of animals as well as the abuse of the environment. Lyrics may also focus on subjects such as misanthropy and genocide of the human race. Much of their music is based on putting humans in the situations that animals are subjected to (animal testing, slaughter, etc.). Only two current members are vegetarian: Travis Ryan and Josh Elmore.[citation needed]

Their 2002 album To Serve Man saw controversy in Germany, where distribution company SPV refused to handle the album due to its graphic cover.[3] The cover of the 2004 album Humanure, featuring a cow excreting human remains, was reportedly censored without permission from the label in some outlets. Record store owners did not display the album, making it difficult for customers to find and buy it.[4][5]

Former member Gabe Serbian is a member of the band The Locust.[6] Former member Dave Astor was also a member of The Locust.

Metal author and journalist Garry Sharpe-Young once acknowledged the band as “one of the few metal bands whose message hits as hard as their music”.[3]

In August 2009, Cattle Decapitation parted ways with long-time bassist Troy Oftedal because of “musical and personal differences”.[7]

Their latest album, Monolith of Inhumanity, was released in 2012. It received positive reviews upon release.[8][9]

Cattle Decapitation has toured with many death metal bands including Suffocation, Cryptopsy, The Black Dahlia Murder, Deicide, Behemoth, Hate Eternal, Krisiun and Job For A Cowboy[citation needed]. The band is touring in May 2012 with Fear Factory, Voivod, and Revocation.

The Analysis:

The Carbon Stampede—-Coming out of silence with a low hum that builds and builds, it is not long before the predictable hell breaks loose. The deep growl from this vocalist is incredible…as well as the speed of the music. Most of this band’s lyrical content is very positive and filled with a message…..I just wish I could catch a word or so here and there. what I love most about this band is the aggression and unrelenting speed! And….believe it or not…there are some exceptional guitar melodies on this track!

Dead Set On Suicide—-From the very first notes of the intro, this track really resonated with me. Although the lyrics bash God a bit more than I prefer, the track is freakin’ electric as hell….exceptioinal drums…..outstanding bass and a huge melody line. Vocals….brutal as always!!! The double tracks and overlays are incredible…is there someone else singing on this track?

A Living Breathing Piece Of Defecating Meat—-Returning to song content that first attracted me to this band, the lyrics also contain a few words against God as well….which rather surprises me. The vocal on this track is outstanding…I’m not sure what has changed here, but this is much more friendly to my brain…there are nice breaks and a bit of melody! Fantastic!!!!

Forced Gender Reassignment—-Kudos for the band for deciding to write a song about such a controversial issue….even bigger kudos for coming off sounding almost exactly like Cannibal Corpse. This track moves….and the effects are incredible…again…the double tracking is incredible. The deep vocal at times makes me think of Oceano…but there are bloody screams as well…remarkable!!!!!

Gristle Licker—-Beginning with lightning fast drums, this is by far the most aggressive vocal thus far on this release. I am amazed at the depth that this guy can reach with his voice…he goes so deep sometimes it is like he is bubbling underground…othertimes there is an almost Satanic squeal to his voice…loving this band right now!

Projectile Ovulation—-Once again, the drums lead off this track at an incredible pace…the melody of the song falls into place immediately and floats in and out as it progresses. The vocal is as you would expect, but the bass guitar is the surprise here….giving the song a huge groove over the gravesite depth of the vocal…just amazing…..

Lifestalker—-Seemingly coming right out of the previous track, the music is very consistent. The high cymbals throughout this release is a surprise to be…as are the vocals on this track…almost puking with vehemence and horror. I love this band…this week….my new favorite aggression release. When the track suddenly shifts tones….I sit with my mouth hanging open…an incredible surprise to me…and makes the track almost…..supernatural!

Do Not Resuscitate—-This begins with a nice almost thrash feel to it, but becomes the MONSTER track of the release…this is so aggressive and fast that it is almost maddening. I wonder how the hell this guy can sing like this for song after song….but it is done and done incredibly well. This is another favorite track….angry, energy filled and fueled by fire!!!!

Your Disposal—-This track has a really great intro…..from all the instruments involved…giving you an appreciation of the band before it rapidly dissolves into more of what you have come to expect from this band…and there is that magical clean vocal again…making me smile and wonder what the hell. This track speaks to the level of trash we leave in the environment…both physical and mental and really resonates with me. this is another VERY favorite track of mine.

The Monolith—-Beginning in a rather odd vein, the track is slow to light up…there is a lot of doom serving as the intro……the guitar enters almost at a ghostly pace….and I shake my head in amazement…knowing that the familiar is not far behind. This is a rather incredible track…there is no mayhem…but instead an intense vocal that makes me think of all things…Pink Floyd……masterful!!!!! This is interesting…good track placement and production!!!!

Kingdom Of Tyrants—-Melding perfectly from the previous track, this is a true return to the mayhem that you have come to expect and serves as an excellent end to this release. The brutality is as real as the very first track…leading me to smile even wider. This will be in my rotation for quite sometime…the added clean vocal is extraordinary….I love this new direction…..

Born Villain

Born Villain is the eighth full-length studio album by American rock band, Marilyn Manson. It was released on May 1, 2012 by Cooking Vinyl Records and Manson’s own vanity label Hell, etc.[1][2] Interviews with the band’s frontman described that the record would be in a heavier tone than that of previous works, describing the sound as a “suicide death metal” style.

In November 2010, Twiggy Ramirez was quoted as saying “We’ve got a new album [that we’re working on]. It’s almost done. It’ll probably be out next year. […] It’s our best record yet, I think. I mean, everyone always says that, but I think this is our best work so far… It’s kind of like a little more of a punk rock Mechanical Animals without sounding too pretentious.” It is Marilyn Manson’s first album to be released via Cooking Vinyl.

The album’s lead single, “No Reflection”, received its first airplay on March 7, 2012 on KROQ Los Angeles. It was released in digital format on March 13, 2012 through Cooking Vinyl and Hell, etc., over a month ahead of the album’s release. The single was also released in physical format on April 21, 2012 as a limited-edition white vinyl, available only in the UK and Europe in celebration of Record Store Day. A music video directed by Lukas Ettlin[3][4] was released to promote the single, and also features Roxane Mesquida. The music video premiered on April 4, 2012 on Marilyn Manson’s VEVO channel.

The Analysis:

Hey Cruel World—-Beginning in a slight muted and hushed tone, it is just a huge pleasure to finally hear from the Shock Rock God after such a long silent period. The song comes alive slowly and finds Manson in great vocal form. There is both a metal edge as well as a slight electronic feel to the song….this is classic Manson……finding him seemingly as welcome to be back as we are to have him!

No Reflection—-The lead off single to this release, this track again begins rather slow and quiet creeping up on you before coming more alive. The tempo is magnificent…with Manson giving all types of vocal utterances before the actual vocal. This is classic Marilyn…the voice is in such good form. The song is a bit sedate and not as aggressive as I expected…but definetly radio friendly. This is nice…but I would prefer a bit more intensity!

Pistol Whipped—-Yet another track that begins so odd…..are all of these effects necessary…just get to the damn blow out will ya? Manson sounds a bit particular on this song…it obviosly is not a very favorite of mine…not sure I really appreciate the song content. The chorus is magnificent though…..sounding like classic Manson…but the instrumentation is kept to muted for me…let it rip guys!!!

Overneath The Path Of Misery—-Again, taking forever to get started, this has a bit more of an aggressive instrumentation. Manson almost growls his way through the song and when the band is permitted to, they really let loose. but everything thus far on this release seems so controlled…I much prefer the mayhem of previous releases!!!

Slo-Mo-Tion—-Beginning with a great bass line, the track gives me hope from the onset. The pace is so slow for me though…I keep waiting for all hell to break loose and it never really does. Of course Manson is in control and delivers an almost crystal clear vocal…..but the blues edge to the song is a surprise. This sounds too much like other songs that have been done…..but it is still acceptable.

The Gardener—-For me, this track is rather brilliant….I love it!!!! Manson talk his way through the beginning of the song…..and sounds typically pissed off and demented. This is nice!!! The guitar effects that run through the bottom of the song are almost sonic…this sounds like a movie to me. I really rather like this song!!! When Manson really lets loose with his vocal, I breathe a sigh of relief!

The Flowers Of Evil—-I guess my problem with this release is the damn consistency of the entire thing…there is nothing new or predictable this far into the record. This is just like the 1st, 3rd and 5th track…there is no ingenuity! The aggression is missing so badly from this release…leaving me feel a bit flat and defeated. There are rare glimpses into the older days…but this is pretty sedate for Marilyn…..the track has a really nice melody…but where is the anger?

Children Of Cain—-Offering a bit more of an Industrial lean musically, Manson even sounds a bit more like his old self on this track. The chanting delivery of the song is reminiscent of the glory days…but the aggression is flat and almost absent. i like the chorus a lot…mostly for the sweeping music in the backdrop. The voice even reaches a higher pitch not heard yet on this CD…nice!!!

Disengaged—-Returning to the sing-song delivery that Manson is known for, I have hope for the track…as it reminds me of so many other songs. This has a slight down tempo blues feel to it…and then finally!!!!! the band lets loose with a bit of momentary aggression and the vocal turns into a nice ugly mass of hate……but it is short-lived! What is going on here? This is not bad….but it is by no means stellar!

Lay Down Your Goddamn Arms—-This is nice…..exactly what I have been craving for thus far on this release. The music is huge on this track…the vocal is full of putridity and disgust making me smile in secret. The sentiment is relevant and the music portrays the urgency magnificently!

Murderers Are Getting Prettier Everyday—-Beginning rather slow, the song becomes its own by the second bar….becoming even more alive and aggressive. Manson finally has some venom to deliver and the erratic music makes the track even more intense. this is what I have been waiting for…..the entire track just makes me grin underneath my plaster face…giving me a smile that will last inside for days. This is fantastic!!!

Born Villain—-The title track to this release finds it sounding a bit odd at the onset and my heart falls flat upon the first listen. The vocal enters and makes me feel a bit better…although it seems pushed to the back of the mix a bit. The aggression is absent for the most part…but the sentiment is classic manson…the track sounding much like things that have been done in the past…this is not a bad track, but not really a favorite!

Breaking The Same Old Ground—-Ugh…..not liking this track at all……disappointed. Next…..

You’re So Vain—-Manson does a stellar cover version of this classic Carly Simon track….that also features Johnny Depp on drums and guitar. The interpretation is incredible…allowing a bit more venom then the original ever had. The track has a nice aggressive edge and some vocal overlays that fit the tempo and mood perfectly…this is a classic Manson cover……God knows there are enough of them…but this ranks up there with the best!!!

Cannibal Corpse / Torture

Posted in CD of the day, music, random, reviews with tags , , , , , , , , , , on 60000006-04:00 12 by marky7235

TortureTorture is the twelfth studio album by American death metal band Cannibal Corpse. The album was produced at Sonic Ranch Studios by Hate Eternal guitarist Erik Rutan.

Bassist Alex Webster said about the record: “After having spent the past seven months writing and rehearsing new material, we’re very excited to finally begin recording. We’ve had great success working with Erik Rutan on our past two albums so we’ve decided to work with him again, but to keep things fresh we decided on a change of location — we’re returning to Sonic Ranch studios in Texas, where we’ve recorded several albums in the past. We are psyched to see how this combination works out — we feel it’s pairing that could result in our best album yet.”

It is the first Cannibal Corpse record in eight years (the last being 2004’s The Wretched Spawn) to feature a morbid cover. Although unlike other Cannibal Corpse covers where two would have to be illustrated – one censored and the other featuring the usual graphic violence – Torture includes a flap over the cover that depicts its graphic violence, which can only be opened once the product’s plastic seal is removed. The Japanese version comes in a standard jewel box with a slip cover case to mimic the Digipak version of the uncensored international release.

The Analysis:

Demented Aggression—-There is little new or shocking that CC can do at this point that has not been done by them already…all we can ask for is quality and consistency and this opening track really delivers. The music is as you would expect….amazingly fast and full of shreds…all the while George delivers growl after growl of disgusting suggestions to the listener. All in fun, this is also a huge stress reliever. Long live the grindcore kings!!!

Sarcophagic Frenzy—-Leaving you little time to catch your breath, this track comes in as heavy as anything the band has managed. With a bit more of a down-tempo, this allows George to tell a bit of a demented story. The musical interchanges are incredible going from ultra fast to a slower dirge like magic…the only thing missing for me are the magical guitar squeals this band is known for.

Scourge Of Iron—-The drums on this release are showcased so well on this track….as the heavy bass guitar produces a death march to the gallows…this is extraordinary and manages to make me smile. CC have turned their Deathcore into an art…that no one can do better. Who would think they would stand strong after 20 plus years? This track is full of melody and a damn catchy refrain…truly…believe it or not!!!!

Encased In Concrete—-Probably my favorite track on this release, it contains all I have ever needed from this band….aggression, speed, gore, ghastly vocals and a magical cohesive sound. the cymbals crash all over this track and the lead guitar is much shinier…allowing the track not to sound as deep. the intensity level is amped and the vocal is delivered at ultra speed. This is a huge combination of everything I love about this band…except the occasional guitar squeal……can’t have it all.

As Deep As The Knife Will Go—-Returning to full on aggression and thrash, the lyrics are a bright return to the gore-iffic escapades of the past…..reminding me of the true glory days of the band. The vocal is pushed away a bit…..making me wonder why? It is almost impossible to catch every word….but you just know this is brutal and ugly….and…yes..it is!!!! Classic!!!

Intestinal Crank—-Delivered deep and full of dirge at the onset, the song picks up a tempo that seems almost superhuman…I’m never sure how George manages to keep his vocal in time with the music coming at him in all directions. This is so aggressive and gory…you have to laugh…and shudder at the same time. Extraordinary!

Followed Home Then Killed—-The intro to this track is rather surprising….setting a melodic mood that lasts for quite sometime. George delivers line after line that you can actually understand and shake your head at. The speed is interspersed and the track switches from mood to mood..there are even some slight guitar squeals here…this is another favorite track…for the melody, the energy and the predictability!!!

The Strangulation Chair—-Returning to full on death mode, this is classic CC…..full of interchanges and growling vocals that make me shake my head and wonder how the hell George can sing like this year after year…all while whipping his head around at 40 miles per hour. This has that nice CC deep sound and you will not be disappointed…predictable but needed!

Caged-Contorted—-One thing you have to give this band credit for….they are true to their art form and they never leave it far behind them. No new sounds for them…this is classic and expected but welcome and brand new. the aggression makes me feel new…the energy gives me purpose…the lyrics make me smile sardonically…….everything I need from a band! Besides….this has a great vocal melody to it!!!

Rabid—-Another classic sounding track, George has a way of singing that carries a melodic edge to it despite the full throttle growl he delivers. This is a well versed band that knows how to construct a track…this is another favorite of mine from this release…just for the barrage of instrumentation and the great underlying melody that accompanies the damn thing! some vocal overlays here too!!!! WOW!!!

Torn Through—-Ending the release as brutal as it began, the energy level never takes a break. The dirge is magnificent and there seems to be some nice overlays on the vocals on this track as well…live, I suppose it really has no bearing! This is a great recording…another nice stepping stone in the foundation of Cannibal Corpse…..I will re-visit this often….
